Though the games haven’t begun yet, the foundation is being laid, and big things are coming. Our website officially launched on March 20th, 2025, and marks the beginning of an exciting journey—one that prioritizes inclusion, fairness, and family values.

Keep checking back here! In the coming months, we’ll be revealing some exciting new initiatives and special partnerships we can’t wait to share—with the right timing and a little bit of surprise.

Thanks for being here at the very beginning. This is more than sports—it’s the start of something meaningful. Let’s build it together.

Winning Where It Matters

Why FSL's Model Is So Important

June 18th, 2025 - At Family Sports League, we love sharing exciting updates—whether it’s fresh uniform designs, new community partnerships, or fun news about the upcoming season. But what we’re sharing today feels even more meaningful. It touches the very core of why we started this journey in the first place.

There’s a growing concern in youth sports that we can no longer ignore—a cultural shift that is placing too much pressure on kids and reshaping childhood in ways that are quietly, but deeply harmful. Youth sports, which should be joyful & character-building experiences, are too often becoming pressure-filled, high-stakes environments. And it’s affecting our children—not just physically, but emotionally and mentally.

We know this was never the intent. Most parents just want the best for their kids. But in today’s fast-paced, hyper-competitive world, it’s easy to get swept into a current that says, “more is better” and “excellence at any cost.” Before we know it, families are running on fumes, and kids—once eager to play—start to burn out.

A recent article from MOJO Sports powerfully captured this concern. It featured stories of kids speaking out by the thousands over anxiety, injuries, and constant pressure. One post about youth sports burnout drew over 14,000 responses, each one echoing the same pain: the game they once loved had become a source of stress. Even well-meaning encouragement from parents was often received as pressure to push through warning signs.

Even pediatric experts are sounding the alarm: kids who are over-scheduled and over-specialized are more likely to experience overstimulation, anxiety, and chronic stress. They’re also more prone to injuries and more likely to drop out of sports altogether. On the other hand, giving children space—to rest, to try new things, to just be kids—helps them stay motivated, build a variety of skills, and enjoy a more balanced life.

That’s why we created Family Sports League – to provide an answer to these alarming trends and embark on a path that offers families a way out of this spiral. It’s why we repeat our motto of one practice, and one game per week. We genuinely believe it serves as the solution to the shifting negative landscape of youth sports. Relaxing our schedules relaxes family schedules, promoting recreational joy, not anxiety. It leaves room for family dinners, homework, unscripted play, and pure downtime for the whole family. These are elements that feed a child’s growth, creativity and happiness.

The competition of FSL is still one that encourages high effort and doing your best, but it’s balanced with all other aspects that benefit a child’s development and the sanity of the whole family. One practice and one game per week isn’t just a schedule – it’s a statement. With Family Sports League, you’re choosing a sports experience that supports mental health, prevents burnout, encourages a lifetime love of the game… and honors childhood as a time of development and exploration – not specialization. We hope to offer the chance for parents to take a breath and for kids to be kids, all while improving their skills and passion for sports in a healthy way.

So, when you see exciting announcements, information about registration details, or simply see our team on game day, just know that it’s all structured in hopes to be the best sports alternative possible for your family– an alternative we hope will be commonplace in the future.

Thank you for trusting us with your child’s journey through sports. Together, we’re creating an environment where fun, friendship, development and fulfillment take center stage. We hope you never hesitate to reach out for further discussion so we can continue the search of making Family Sports League the absolute best program… Where Family and Sports Meet!

With gratitude and sincerity,

Shane and Dave

FSL Teams Up with Wooter

June 6th, 2025—As we continue the march toward our inaugural season, Family Sports League is excited to share a major update with our community! We are proud to announce a new partnership with Wooter Apparel, a leading innovator in custom sports uniforms.

Why Wooter?

From our very first conversation, the Wooter team has wholeheartedly embraced Family Sports League’s mission to serve families. They have been invaluable in guiding us toward premium, affordable uniform options tailored to our needs. Their commitment was evident through the thoughtful process of sending high-quality samples and fully customizing our designs using durable, top-tier materials.

A standout feature of Wooter’s offering—and a perfect fit for FSL—is their versatile, high-quality reversible uniforms (jerseys and shorts). With two designs in a single uniform, Wooter helps reduce costs and simplifies life for families by eliminating the need to manage multiple uniforms.

Our custom team designs are currently underway, and we can’t wait to reveal them when the time is right. For now, we’re thrilled to partner with Wooter to bring quality, style, and convenience to our league.

More About Wooter

Founded in 2014 by league owners Alex Aleksandrovski, David Kleyman, and Alex Kagan, Wooter was born out of frustration with the sports uniform industry—marked by high prices, poor quality, and long wait times. Determined to find a better way, they created Wooter Apparel. Today, Wooter proudly serves over 12,000 organizations in more than 40 countries. Family Sports League is honored to join that list, confident our families will love these premium uniforms.

A Special Bonus for Our Community

Thanks to Wooter’s partnership, Family Sports League will also offer adult replica jerseys for sale at the start of the season. This is a fantastic way for parents and supporters to show team spirit and support their athletes on game day and beyond. We’ll share more details about these custom jerseys as the season approaches—stay tuned!

As always, thank you for being part of Family Sports League’s journey. We look forward to sharing more exciting updates as we prepare for Spring 2026.

All 9 weeks of the season will take place at this historic and well-equipped facility, which served as the primary gym for WVSU’s collegiate athletics until 2014. Flemming Hall offers everything we could ask for—and more—with amenities that align perfectly with FSL’s mission to provide a high-quality experience for all players, families, and the community.

Let's Talk Registration Fee

April 10th, 2025 - At Family Sports League, our registration fee is the cornerstone of what makes us the gold standard for convenience, family freedom, and even savings! Yes, you read that correctly — families actually save money by participating in FSL. Let’s take a closer look at how this works.

When you consider the benefits of FSL and the money typically spent on traditional youth athletic programs, the registration fee for Family Sports League becomes quite small in comparison.

First, our Central HUB program ensures that every game is a home game. Research shows that, on average, families spend between $300 and $500 just on fuel for traveling during a typical basketball season. This doesn't even include the additional costs of dining out or even hotel expenses for away games or tournaments. With Family Sports League, every game is local and close to home, meaning the money you'd normally budget for travel expenses is effectively reinvested into the FSL registration fee — without the need to sacrifice precious time on the road. But that's not all...

Family members also have the opportunity to join the FSL team and receive compensation for coaching or working at game day events. From selling tickets and merchandise to working concessions or managing the scorer’s table, every position within FSL offers an employment opportunity.

... BUT... most importantly, the greatest benefit families receive from participating in FSL is valuable time. While we could easily demonstrate how families save money with our program, the extra time at home or the freedom to engage in other activities is priceless.

With Family Sports League, we truly believe we’ve created a program with nothing but upside — no trade-offs, no sacrifices. Our mission is to serve families, and the registration fee enables us to provide top-notch services while ensuring families spend less money, not more. The way our structure works is truly amazing, and we would love for your family to join us and experience these benefits firsthand.

As always, if you have any questions or would like to learn more, please don’t hesitate to reach out via email. We’d be happy to start a conversation. Thank you for your interest in Family Sports League — Where Family and Sports meet!
